About a week ago I posted about the Mystery Box that Julep had on sale. I hope some of you went ahead and got one. The mystery boxes are a great way to try their items and polishes, without getting committed into a monthly subscription program where you get 2 to 3 polishes every month. What do people do with all that nail polish? That’s 24 to 36 bottles a year! I hardly ever use nail polish – and when I do it’s because I am at a nail salon and someone is using the salon polish to do my toes. I have seen women who come in with their own polish though, my mother is one of those women.Ok so yesterday my Mystery box got here. If you remember – the box was $24.99 and I added on the $9.99 special add on mystery thing. I then used a promo code and got $10 off. So with shipping (which is some of the cheapest around) – I paid a total of $27.97 for what was promised to be over $130 of products. So what did I get? Well, Julep didn’t include a notecard detailing the price of everything so I have to actually do work and look it all up……yay. I do know the nail polishes are $14 each – though sometimes they have sales and make them $4.99 or $7.99 so I don’t know about these that are in my box. It all came together too – so I have no idea which part was the $9.99 add on….
Here are the contents of the box all laid out:
I got one ugly, glittery rust colored polish (my opinion), one ok glittery polish that I imagine is a bitch to remove, one pretty bright yellow polish that I have gotten in two other mystery boxes and one very pretty, light lavender colored polish.
Shoshanna (green glitter) = $14
Catrina (yellow) = $14
Tatiana (rust) = $14
Annemarie (beige lavender) = $14
I also got two hairbands that are all the rage in sub boxes now and that I can’t get enough of because they don’t leave a mark in your hair and are really sturdy. Keep those hair bands coming! I can’t find them on the website to get a price…
The other items are:
– An Eyeshadow Palette that is pretty but not super exciting: $24
Just nice neutral colors that will always be useful.
– a mattifying eye primer. Oh my God, how much eye primer am I going to collect from these boxes? I didn’t even know Julep made an eye primer. The applicator is cool though: $22 on the website.
– A “Color Rush Lip Gloss” in the color “berry”. This is a pretty awesome product. It looks brownish but goes on a nice, light shade. It’s not sticky and it smells like mint chocolate. My favorite product in the box by a mile. $20 on the website.
– and last, and least, an eyeshadow brush. Yup, another one. I have their blush brush and they do make good quality, soft brushes. $18
So all totaled, it’s a value of $140 – not including whatever the hairbands cost. Not a bad deal at all for $27.97 huh?! I will definitely use the lip gloss, hair bands, brush, eye shadow and two of the polishes – so I absolutely think I got my monies worth and then some.
These boxes are no longer on sale – but Julep does mystery boxes fairly often and I will be sure to let you know when the next one is so you can jump on it and give them a try.
Because I have not, and will not, make the commitment to be a monthly box subscriber to this one, I don’t have a referral link or get credit if you order, but maybe one of my readers is a “Julep Maven” and can comment with her referral link so she will get some type of benefit if you order. I like to help my friends and readers out when possible.
